T. Edward Slayton Jr., 69, passed away Friday, April 1, 2016, in Granbury. Edward was born Oct. 17, 1946, in Norfolk, Va., to Tison Edward Slayton Sr. and Frances Aileen Welch Slayton. He married Janet Carroll on Oct. 9, 1987, in Aurora, Colorado. He was a pilot for American Airlines and retired after 16 years.
Edward retired as a pilot from the U.S. Air Force after 21 years, having served during the Vietnam War.

Mission Summary:
|
The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to stand a flag
line for Retired U.S. Air Force, Lt Col T. Edward Slayton,
Jr. The Memorial Service is set for Thursday Morning at 11
AM at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Granbury, TX, followed by
a procession at 13:30 and flag line at DFW National
Cemetery.
There is a Scheduled 2 hour Lunch for the
family before the procession leaves the Church at 13:30.

After setting the flags and conducting the briefing, the PGR
will stand the Flag Line for this American Hero. Once the
service starts at 11 am, the Ride Captain will make the
decision when to remove the Flags and take them to the
support vehicle.

Details Of Part 2:
|
PGR Riders that stay to ride in procession will be given a
safety briefing (13:00) prior to leaving for Cemetery. There
will be Motorcycle Escort service provided for the
procession. (3 Bikes) If unable to participate in Part I,
please proceed to the DFW National Cemetery to participate
in Part II ______________________________________________
The PGR that do not ride in the procession may meet at the
DFW Visitor Center for a briefing, that will be given by
Ride Caption #2. The PGR will then proceed to the shelter,
set flags, stand tall and silent waiting on the procession
of family and friends of Lt. Col Slayton. At the conclusion
of the service, flags will be furled, riders debriefed and
dismissed.

- Iron horses if you can, cages are always welcome and
appreciated.
- Safety First: Please remember to
properly hydrate (including the night before) before any
outdoor activity and to dress appropriately. Do not hesitate
to take a break at any time if you feel you need to get in
the shade or get indoors and always ask for help at any
time. Also please do not forget your sun screen.

Riders NOT UTILIZING HANDICAPPED PARKING are requested to
park as far forward as possible at the Visitor's Center to
keep the closest spaces available for other guests.
-
Let's always remember to keep the motorcycle and voice noise
to a minimum when arriving and leaving the shelters.
- Cemeteries are hallowed ground. Please keep radios off and
engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit.
Show our respect to ALL who are there, not just the one we
are honoring.
